✅ UPSC ESE 2027 Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal / Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (as per UPSC rules).

Educational Qualification: A candidate must have –

  • obtained a Degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956; or
  • passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or
  • obtained a degree / diploma in Engineering from a recognised foreign University / College / Institution; or
  • passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or
  • passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III / Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
  • passed Graduate Membership Examination as specified in the notification.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2027): Candidate must have attained 21 years and must not have attained 30 years. Date of birth should be between 02 January 1997 and 01 January 2006 (both dates inclusive).

Age Relaxation: SC / ST – 5 years; OBC – 3 years; PwBD – 10 years; and other categories as per UPSC rules.

✅ UPSC ESE 2027 Selection Process:

  • Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination – Objective Type Papers (for shortlisting to Mains)
  • Stage-II: Engineering Services (Main) Examination – Conventional Type Papers
  • Stage-III: Personality Test / Interview

Final ranking will be based on marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Personality Test, subject to medical fitness and document verification.

Eligible candidates must apply ONLINE ONLY through the UPSC Online Application Portal. Before filling the form, candidates should read the General instructions, Profile / Module-wise instructions and document-upload instructions.

➢ Step 2: Complete / update the One-Time Registration (URN) profile. A one-time edit facility is available for the URN profile as per UPSC instructions.

➢ Step 3: Fill the Common Application Form (CAF). Capture the live photograph as required by the portal.

➢ Step 4: Upload signature and photograph as per the prescribed specifications.

➢ Step 5: Pay the application fee of ₹200 online (if applicable) through Net Banking / Card / UPI.

➢ Step 6: Submit the application on or before 06 October 2026 and take a printout for future reference.
